Permanent residency obligations and risks

If you obtain permanent residency status you have the right to reside in the country for an unlimited period of time provided you comply with the necessary immigration laws. You also have the right to enter or leave the country as and when you wish. However, along with your rights you have a number of obligations that may or may not be expected from you depending on the country you are a permanent residency of.

In some cases, permanent residency status can be lost. This is not likely where you actively comply with the relevant laws and regulations of the country you reside in however certain circumstances will end in revocation of permanent residency status.

If you leave the country for a longer length of time that you are allowed to do then you can loose your residency status. Also, if you commit serious crimes or you pose a threat to society and national security you will loose all residency rights and be deported.
