Economic citizenship is a form of investment immigration where by the applicant seeking citizenship in a particular country is required to invest a substantial amount of money into the economy. Not every country offers economic citizenship programs, and the jurisdictions that do provide such programs will vary according to the jurisdictions immigration laws.

Although the amount of capital to invest in a country it is completely dependent on that country, in general you are expected to have a specific value of net worth before you can even apply through the program. If you meet the net worth criteria, you will then have to invest in the country’s economy in one or a combination of the following ways:

-          Invest in an existing company that needs assistance

-          Create a certain number of jobs for the country’s residents

-          Invest in economical development projects
