What is triple citizenship

Triple citizenship is a certain citizenship status that denotes that an individual holds nationality of three different jurisdictions. Acquiring citizenship in more than two countries is often difficult due to stringent citizenship laws, however, it is not impossible.

DeltaQuest offers a wealth of experience in helping individuals obtain citizenship in countries across the globe. For information please visit our Second Passport Options service page.

Features of triple citizenship

Individuals who hold citizenship of two or more countries are able to benefit from a number of different advantages. This includes the ability to travel visa-free between the jurisdictions of which you hold citizenship, as well as to other countries they may have travel agreements with. For example, a citizen who holds EU nationality is entitled to travel to all EU member states without additional travel documents other than their passport.

Another advantage of being a citizenship holder of different countries is that individuals can avail a range of benefits that the government offers its citizens. Some of these include unemployment benefits, educational benefits and housing benefits. However, in the event that an individual acquires their second or third citizenship through an investment immigration program, they might not be entitled to the governmental welfare options.

Individuals are able to gain citizenship in various countries through any of the following procedures;

  • One of their parents is a national of the country
  • Through birth right
  • Through marrying a national of a different country
  • Through naturalization
  • Being adopted by a citizen
  • Engagement in an investment immigration program

In many cases individuals are not allowed to acquire citizenship of more than one or two countries due to citizenship laws exercised in different jurisdictions. For example, if an individual has served in a another country’s military, they might not be entitled to citizenship in any other country. Therefore it is important to research and be aware of the different legislations that surround triple and multiple citizenship.
