What constitutes a good medical health certificate?

A good medical health certificate will provide detailed information of the previous 5 years of the applicant’s medical history. The purpose of the medical certificate is to demonstrate that the holder of the medical certificate does not suffer from or carry any of the easily transferable diseases listed below;

- Tuberculosis
- Hepatitis B
- Hepatitis C
- HIV
- Aids
- Syphilis

What is a medical certificate required for?

Typically the application for all residency visas and work permits will require a valid and certified medical report of the applicant. The medical certificate is a necessary prerequisite to ensure that the applicant is not a carrier of any dangerous or easily transferable diseases prior to entering the country.

What information needs to be included in a medical certificate?

- The applicants full name and address of birth place
- Examination of the applicants sight, hearing, teeth, reflexes and heart
- Test results evidencing that you are not a carrier of any of the diseases listed above
- Signature of the applicant
- Signature and certification by the doctor

Who can issue a valid medical certificate?

You must obtain your medical certificate of good health from a fully qualified registered medical practitioner, for example your doctor. There are a few other medical professions who are qualified to issue medical certificates, these include;

- Registered medical practitioner
- Registered dentist
- Registered optometrist
- Registered physiotherapist
- Registered chiropractor
- Registered osteopath
- Registered podiatrist
