How to Get a Police Certificate
In order to get a police certificate you will need to go to your local police station. If you have been living in the same area for a while, they may be able to provide you with the certificate at your local police station, however if you have lived in the same country, but not the same area for some time, you will need to go to a major police station to obtain your clearance. Going to your local police station is the first step, as they can direct you to the nearest police station that can grant you a police clearance certificate.
You will need to take with you your latest and valid passport, as well as your birth certificate and national ID. You will also need to provide the police with any aliases you have used (Maiden name is required for married women) and may also need to provide your finger prints.
Once this information is provided to the police, they will then browse through the national crime registries to check for a criminal record under your name, aliases and fingerprints, to ensure that you do not have a criminal record. If you do not have a criminal record they will provide you a certificate that is worded similar to the one above. However if you do have a criminal record, they will include your offenses on the certificate, and you may be refused entry to the country you are choosing to immigrate too.
Please note that this is only a sample of a police certificate, and may differ from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. There may also be additional requirements needed by the police before they will grant you a police certificate, and it is always better to check with your local police before you apply for a police certificate.
